this was jet another probe way off prediction. weather conditions are odd this year....probe was caught
by storm cloud and flight was unusual one.

Probe landed approximately 40 km from my location, since my probe less situation i decided to go for it
with fear of tall trees.

After hour trip i ended up in vicinities of last received point from my location (height 986 m).Baofeng starts receiving good signal in 300 m from probe, so i pull over and setup my trunk equipment and read GPS position from probe.

Fortunately wind below 1100m was in opposite direction, so instead in village or woods probe ended on open field... Because of rain and fact that probe was 50m from road i decided to go on with car to closest position...and after short trip on foot thrum corn and weed i found it....probe visibility just few
meters...without on site decoding searching will last much more time...

Happy (not seen on picture :D ) and all wet i pack myself and return home...

probe was switch on by itself in trunk, so i have last few kilometers of my trip recorded :)
After switching off and reinstalling battery, led start blinking and probe switch on automatically after few minutes.

Is it malfunction or some kind of programming ?

I have not noticed any similar behavior with M2K2, but maybe M10 sondes are different. Maybe it's some function to recover after battery failure during flight, so sonde turns on automatically when flying.
Also for SGP sondes, they power down when voltage is too low. But they can recover if voltage gets higher again (but only TXing using lowest power). Batteries usually recover after some time when warmed up, being in the car is enough for that. However this doesn't explain 10 minute auto power-on with fresh batteries...

I have another M10 and i did not notice this kind of behavior.
That one switch off and on correctly...

Also i have one M10 on tree near my location, waiting for thread to break.
Has anyone experience how long should one wait for thread to break ?
I think it depends on wind and other weather conditions.

How high hanging the M10 in the tree? I've been waiting 3years until it falls down.

20 meters, but in between branches, barely visible....

Usually when line is between branches, it's may not take that long. Especially during stronger winds, branches will move back and forth, slowly cutting the wire. This works well for line used on Vaisala sondes, but may not be effective against thicker "rope like" line, as commonly found on DFM sondes. Not sure what type is used on M10 sondes, but it's worth checking it again after a few months.

location is near me, I will visit it from time to time....
as it r00t was mentioned before, maybe it breaks earlier, last week had been windy ..... thread was worn out and has been snapped between probe and unwinder even on the first day, .. so I could not pull probe .when I pulled unwinder, thread slipped from tree top without any resistance..
